Yikes...School starts tomorrow.

I can not believe that my girls go back to school tomorrow. My middle daughter will be a senior this year...where has the time gone( I miss that little mischievous redhead) . I am thankful my youngest is only going to be a 7th grader. However, it seems like yesterday she was just a toddler,(she looks so much older than 12 that is her in the top picture at camp). I can't believe how fast they have grown up.

My oldest got married last month, and their new apartment will be ready next week, and she will be leaving our nest. Part of me is sad to see her go, but there is a part that is ready for it to happen...(Tell me everyone...is this normal). Unfortunately she will be taking our Izzy with her, I am going to miss our sweet little granddaughter more than I can say. She makes us smile and laugh each day...what a joy to watch her learn and discover new things. All you ladies that have little ones, cherish each moment, it goes by in a flash. I remember everyone telling me that, did I believe it, NOOOOO.

We are going to spend our last day of summer break school shopping. I think I will take them out for a special treat after the madness of buying school clothes, and supplies.

Wow...the designers at Stampin UP are Amazing. They really think outside of the box, when they are making the displays for convention. It is such a great way to show there is so much more to stamping than just making cards ( still one of my favorite things to create). This is one of the things I love to share about Stampin UP...it is more than just rubber stamping. It is Home Decor, party favors, gifts, and much much more. Riverton Tour

My friend Amanda and I were able to take a tour of the Riverton Campus of Stampin UP. This was quite an eye opening experience. We got to see how your orders are pulled and shipped...Fascinating how they get this done so quickly and with such accuracy. We got to walk through Demo Support, the Legacy Room, and where ideas are born. I love being a Demonstrator but I really wanted to work at Riverton after seeing what a lovely atmosphere it has. The picture above is of Amanda and I in front of the sign that welcomes you to this facility.

Oh my goodness!!! I just got home from my first ever Stampin Up convention. Wow, do they know how to do things right. I had such a wonderful time, learning new things, meeting wonderful demos and swapping cards with others. I can't believe all the amazing displays created by the Stampin Up design, they are sooooo talented.

One of the best things was getting to know my roomies better. We are sidelines and although we see each other at demo meetings, we don't get a lot of time to spend together. I roomed with 3 AMAZING women Alex, Amanda and Josie. They all contributed to making my time at convention so worthwhile.

I can't wait to share the pictures with all of you, I am in the process of going through all 600. Hopefully I will have then edited and cropped soon, so you can get a little sample of our adventure.

Fathers Day Swap Card

This is a swap card that I submitted for our stamping group Stampers by the Sea. We received some amazing samples, I hope everyone enjoyed mine as well. This card used the stamp set The Open Sea and the matching DSP called Nautical Expedition (yummy!!!!) and I also used the new Cherry Cobbler bakers twine around the anchor....LOVE LOVE LOVE this new accessory. Rescheduling Open House

I am hoping to change the date to May 6th. I will have 2 sessions, one in the morning from 10-12, then again in the evening from 6:30 to 8:30. Spring into Sushine

Hi Friends,

We are having such a beautiful day here in Colorado, I thought I would share a little sunshine with my card today. Of course one of the wonderful things about living in this beautiful state, is we have an average 300 days of sunshine. It may get cold but still beautiful sun and blue skies. That is more sunshine than San Diego gets ( if you can believe the weather channel).

My card share today is a CASE of Teneale Williams she does beautiful work. I generally don't do an exact copy of someone else's work, but her card was so elegant I really couldn't think of much to change other than the color...Oh yes I did add some half back pearls to mine.

I apologize for not posting lately, our life has been rather busy. Soccer season has started for my HS Junior, and she has at least 2 games a week. We have also been taking her to visit colleges to get an idea of where she might want to go and to talk to their soccer coaches. We are hoping for some athletic scholarships. She has some academic scholarships coming her way already...so any little help she can get elsewhere will make college a little more affordable. Part of being a soccer mom is also helping her with fire ups (gifts for girls on the team before games) they do not have to be elaborate but they are fun little things to boost morale and team spirit. This year we decided to make scarves for the girls. 16 boa fleece scarves. It took a little time, but well worth the girls reaction. Most of their games are at night and once the sun goes down it makes for a very cold soccer season (even if it is called spring soccer).

Another wonderful time consumption is a rise in my Stampin Up business. I am so happy that it is starting to grow. It is so much more fun to stamp with friends, than by myself. I am loving meeting new people to share my passion for papercrafting.

Hopefully I will be able to balance my time better and share some more ideas with all of you.

Simple Valentine

Saw a simple sketch in paper craft magazine, and had to give it a try. I am thrilled with the outcome. This card is so simple but very cute. It would be easy to mass produce. Love cards like this. Especially when all you would have to do is change the sentiment, and it could be for any occasion. I just may use this layout in my next Stamp-a-Stack.

I have had this sketch in my head, and today was the first time I was able to sit down and try it out. Not quite sure yet if I am in love with it. Could be because my sentiment is crooked (note stamp phrase before you use your dimensionals...YOU TOO CAN BE A STAMPIN UP DEMONSTRATOR...lol) . First I sponged crumb cake around the edges of the crumb cake card stock. then the very vanilla. Stamped the individual letters with Sweet Shoppe alphabet onto retired su dsp. Then they were punched with the 1/2 in. circle punch. I stamped the flower image from the Vintage Vogue stamp set (one of my favorites). For the pearls I used my reinker and painted each half back pearl with cherry cobbler, and then used clear embossing powder to set the color. This is a great way to have any color pearl you need.

Hi everyone, Hope you are staying warm with all the below freezing temps we are having. My kiddos have been out of school the past two days for severe cold weather. Windchills have been -44. So trying to stay warm and get some things accomplished.

Today I want to share a card made using the inlaid embossing technique. This is a great new technique I discovered somewhere out there in the blog world. I am not sure who used it first, but if you know it is you, let me know so I can give you credit. My samples are the Thank you cards I made for my customers for the month of January.

I just love that there are so many different things you can use SU products on. We received a little gift with a demonstrator order of the valentine rub-ons in the occasion mini. I wasn't sure how I was going to use these, but decided on valentine decorations. I rubbed them on a little coffee mug, and then turned the mug into a topiary. I also used our wonderful Love Letters DSP, along with the new glitter paper to create a piece of 5x7 art. Well I am on a roll now...what else can I do to decorate for Valentine's Day. I took some old retired ribbon in reds and pinks, rolled them around styrofoam balls and Walla! more decor. I placed these in hurricanes that usually hold candles.

Finally Pumped Up Workshop Cards

Here are two cards that I bumped up from the original workshop version. One I used Versamark and Irridescent Ice to give it the glitter affect, and added a slide to the ribbon. The next one I added halfback rhinestones, and a rhinestone brad to the ribbon. I really like all the cards, but wanted to be able to show my workshop how you can change one simple card and make it a little more special.

No Longer MIA

Wow, I know it has been way to long since I have updated my blog. Life has been crazy in the Rogers household the past couple of months. I injured my hand and was unable to craft for a while :( that was not fun. I really missed creating and making things. That was just the beginning, and that was actually the easy part.

We found out that my uncle had pancreatic cancer and didn't have long to live, He put up a good fight but we lost him on October 13th. Although it was difficult to have lost such an amazing man, I am thankful he will no longer be suffering, and is with our Heavenly Father. Just a few short weeks after this, my dear sister-in-law lost her 19 yo brother in a terrible accident. Luckily we were able to take in her girls so that she could head back east to be with her family. He was a lovely young man with a bright future, and touched many lives. It is sad that his life here was cut short. I know that he too, is with our loving Heavenly Father.

So life continues to give us our trials as my oldest went to emergency and was admitted needing gall bladder surgery. She came through it, easily with just a restriction of no heavy lifting.

Things seem to be looking up and then my 16 yo, who only has her learner permit, had an accident in my van. I hate to admit, that it was more my fault than hers, as she was listening to my instruction...Note to self...Teenagers to not react as quickly as experienced drivers. Luckily it wasn't too bad and no serious injuries were sustained.

Through all of these trials I have never wavered in the fact that I know Christ guides us through the difficult times in our lives, and never gives us challenges that we can not handle. If we remember to pray and ask for his guidance we can survive anything that is given to us.

With Thanksgiving upon us, I want each of you to know that I am thankful for the many blessings that the Good Lord has shared with me. My family, a warm home, the necessities we need to sustain us and the many friends that we have. I am also thankful for the trials and tribulations that come our way, because I know it is the Lords way of making me a stronger person, and being able to serve others that may be going through those same things.

I hope each and everyone of you have a Wonderful Thanksgiving and are able to spend time with your families. Those of you that have families far away may you be able to talk with them and feel their love. I send love and prayers to all of you, and especially those men and women serving our country, and their families that are without them at this time, so that, they may protect our freedoms.

Our theme for this months swap was either a Sympathy or Anniversary Card. Well, my 20th Anniversary is next month, so I decided to play around with some ideas, here is one of them. Wow 20 years, I can hardly believe we will have been married that long. Lots of ups and downs along the way, but what a wonderful life we have had. He will be retiring from the Army this year, big changes coming for us. I can't wait for this new chapter in our lives.

Ok, here I go again, posting Christmas in July. I guess its never to early to get a head start on things. This little 6x6 recipe card was created using retired SU christmas paper, however, it would be easy to duplicate with paper from the current catalog. I plan on making these nuts for friends and attaching a recipe card as a gift for our neighbors this year. Here is another card I did for a monthly swap. I am really loving making these clean and simple cards that pack a lot of punch. I made my own dsp and used it on this card. I absolutely love Stampin Up and how they stay updated with colors and products. I feel so honored to be a part of this wonderful company. I can't believe it has been almost a month since my last post. WOW...no excuses but I have been busy...we have a beautiful new little granddaughter Isabella Marie. She came into this world on June 5th weight 7 lbs, 13 oz, and 20" long. She is beautiful.
I have not shared in a while because most of what I have been working on, have been swaps for VC rocks. I needed to make sure everyone received their swap before posting here. I joined an Ebony & Ivory, this is what I am sharing today. I have a new goal to post at least 3 times a week to my blog.

Wow...I can not believe it has been over a month since I updated my blog. Things have been crazy around here, My oldest is has a growth on her spine and the doctors are still trying to figure out what it is. We are hoping for the best case scenario and that it is only a cyst. She had an MRI last Thursday so hopefully we will know something soon.

I needed to distract myself and get back to stamping. I finally got the butterfly punch from Stampin Up, and decided to make some Pansy's with it (I believe the first time I saw the technique it was Lynn Pratt). I think the flowers turned out okay, but not sure I like how I used them...Oh well trial and error.

I was browsing some blogs and found a cute idea...I believe it was Heather McVey's blog. Well I don't have any of the stamps she used, So I pulled out MDS and printed the words with it and then used my SU products to create this page for my husband. I am framing it, and giving it to him for Valentine's Day.

Stampin Up is such a wonderful company to work with, they gave us a cute little gift of rub ons with our preorder for the occasions mini, that started January. I don't use these often but, I thought they would make a cute decoration. So off I went to create. I placed them on a coffee mug, and then made a topiary out of the mug. I also made a little valentine frame, with our wondeful Love Notes DSP and our new Glitter Paper. The picture has a glare, but I really like the way it turned out. So much fun to be able to decorate for different holidays without spending a fortune in the stores. So now I am on a roll..what else can I do..I took some retired ribbon and placed them in my Hurricanes. Now my home is ready for Valentines Day. Of course I am looking for more ways to use my stamping supplies, other than card making and scrapbooking. That is the great thing about SU products, so many different uses.

I learned how to make this wonderful little treat box from Andrea Walford. She is an amazing talent. She did hers as a valentine, mine was decorated as a party favor for my dear friends 40th Birthday. All the ladies seem to love them. They were very quick to make. I am going to try to change the size a little to hold a Rees'es Peanut Butter Heart or maybe egg for Easter. That is one of my favorite things about paper crafting. You can take one template and change it around to fit any occasion.

Here are some little bookmarks that I made for Christy's birthday as well, another great idea I received on Late Night Stampers. I love all the ideas we share with one another in this group. Then we can make our own artistic interpretation of them. The glitter on these did not turn out as well as I would have liked. Next time I will use Heat and Stick. Would love to teach anyone in the Colorado area how to make all these cute easy projects.

Here is one of the party treats I made to celebrate Christy's Birthday. I can't remember who gave me the idea of the petal card die to hold a lolly-pop...but I know she is a member of LateNightSTampers group on yahoo. I had curled the paper to add, and it was my dd idea to place it around the stick. I just love this die and all the different things you can make with it. Birthday Gift for my Friend and upline.

Now that we had club tonight, I can post the pictures of the gift and card I made for our Upline. We had so much fun tonight starting our next 6 month session. I saw this frame on the new stampin connection. It was CASE'd from Gin Dygert. The card was a Mojo Monday sketch. It was really fun to make something for her I knew she would enjoy. Also the card has purple her favorite color.

Thank You Cards

My daughters soccer team went to the Ft. Lowell shootout last weekend. They did amazing and won the tournament for their age bracket..along with every olympic event at Opening Ceremonies. Go Lady Falcons. It took a lot to get these young ladies to this tournament and some wonderful women that worked extremely hard making sure it happened. I have made 3 Thank you cards for the girls to sign and show their appreciation. I would also like to take this time to Thank these women. Betsy, thanks so much for working with CYSA and getting all the paperwork filed. Tammy for helping to coach and acquire birth certificates and club cards for guest players. And the Amazing Barbi..working with the tournament, organizing fund raisers, fighting for concession nights, and all the hotel reservations, and last but not least, making sure the girls had fun. Oh yes a thank you to my husband for being their Sunday Coach. You all made this a wonderful experience for each of these girls.

I know, I know. I told you I was starting to fall in love with this color. This candle was inspired by Cheryl Garret. I love stamping on candles, but had never gone all the way around one before. Unfortunately I dropped this one and dinged it up, and it was the last one I had. I will definately be making another one of these to get a perfect one without dents. I think these would make great hostess gifts. Just think if you would like to host a workshop I could make one for you in colors that match your home. Thansk for visiting.

More Crushed Curry

Yes, Falling in love with Curry. Here is another of projects creadted the other night, This was inspired by a card created by Jen Dierks. I saw it while browsing Stampin Connection a new social network for SU demos. When I saw her card I new I had to make my own version with Dusty Durango, Crushed Curry and Soft Suede...other than the little smudge of versamark ...I really like the way the colors blend together. Tell me what you think.

Another of the cards I did in my night of stamping while dh was away. Dusty Durango is probably my favorite In-color, however crushed curry not so much. The two together however are beautiful. I originially was going to use the razzle dazzle stamp set for this card, and realized I had not used 5th Avenue in quite some time. It is such a beautiful set. I think this would make a great card for an Anniversary. Hope you like it.

My Husband took Cassidy to her soccer tournament in Tucson this weekend, and I stayed behind to get her registered for the College Prep Program she was selected to participate in at UCCS. So I thought what a perfect opportunity to have my SIL come over and spend an evening stamping. It was a lot of fun. This is one of the projects I made. I had been wanting to make one of these boxes for quite a while. I found the tutorial on "Inky Doodles" blog. It is a great tutorial and very easy to follow.

Well this card is not one of my favorites, but it does show a lot of different techniques. I like the ribbon as a letter, and the dsp as a button (even if I wasn't patient enough to let it dry all the way). Even if you are not a fan of the card, I hope it inspires you to try new things.

Happy New Year everyone. I wanted to post a few pictures of some of the gifts my girls and I made for their teachers and friends. Now that Christmas is over and all gifts have been received, I can share the pictures. My photography skills are not the greatest these are much cuter in person. Especially the little locker frame made with rub ons and Stampin Up window sheets.

I am still trying to figure out what card I am going to do for the new swap group I joined over at splitcoast stampers. I thought this time I would go with a masculine theme. I really like how this turned out, but not sure how easy it will be to mass produce. As the define your life stamp took quite a long time to do the background. If I can find a quicker method, I may have just found the card I am going to use. Hope you like it.

With the holidays winding down, I finally had time to play with my new stamps. I am hoping to participate in some SWAP's this year. Just signed up for one, hopefully they are not full. I thought I would try to get my MOJO going with a Valentine's Day card, since that is what January's swap will be. I used the new Vintage Vogue set from Stampin UP. I thought this would make a great Valentine for a good friend.

Medallion Christmas

Wow...It has been a while since I have posted. I came down with a horrible cold and it has been lingering for a couple of weeks. Felt a little better this morning, so I thought I would try to get some stamping in. A new Christmas card with ( I hope ) a vintage look. I used my marker and stamped the outside edge of the medallion to make it look like a wreath. Then I distressed the edges and added fine cosmo glitter and a bow. Hope you like it. I have a swap tonight, here is the card I decided to do. Our theme was to either use the bigshot, punches, or Valentine's Day. I thought why not incorporate all of them. It took a while to get the mojo going. I had been working on Christmas projects for a craft fair, and was beat. Happy to have my swap done and still have most of the day to get some more work done.

We went to stamp club last night and got a sneak peak at an upcoming spooky treats class. There was a witch hat filled with candy. I thought to myself I think that would make a cute Santa Hat filled with treats. So after church and starting dinner today I sat down and hoped my mojo would start working. It is my first attempt, but I think it turned out okay...Now I just need to perfect it.

What a great inexpensive gift for your childs teacher, the wonderful thing about this notepad is that it can be refilled. Add a matching RSVP pen and you have a loveley stationary set. This little bookmark is so simple to make. I needed to use this color combination to go with the other stationary items for our Auction Basket. I think I would have changed the colors for myself. These are so easy to make and you can personalize them for the individual. This picture does not show the wonderful center image, I had a hard time with lighting.

My dear friend Christy just got back from Founders, and I could not wait to see her swaps. Some beautiful cards and new techniques to try. This one I got from Patty Bennet. She had a tutorial showing how to get the oval solid image with the embossing folder. I had to come home and try it. This is the card that I came up with, unfortunately the picture does not it do it justice. You can't really see the depth of the embossing.

I just love this stamp from the SU 2009-2010 Idea book and catalog. I have invisioned him with the gold antlers, as soon as I saw the stamp. Just love that the stamp-a-majig make it so easy to accomplish. I also love using the big shot and dies to get different shapes for my projects. Not to mention my new favorite ribbon...LOVE IT>

Learning to Love Crushed Curry

I was given a challenge to use Crushed Curry, Real Red, and Basic Black, because it is really my least favorite new in color. I immediately thought the colors had an asian feel. Wow!! What a week. I was asked to be in charge of organizing my dd HS soccer banquet. Something new for me. I think it went okay for my first time organizing. However a note to myself...count on about a 3rd more people than RSVP... I made a banner for the girls and some party favors. I had seen this at our Stampin UP demo's home. She had the class before I started working with her. So I thought I would give it a try on my own. The tin was made for a special person, I sure hope she likes it. There are some pockets for receipts, and a notepad and Rsvp pen decorated to match. I will be posting a picture of the inside later....I am having the notepads cut today to fit the inside of the tin.

These are my younger two daughters. I just love the fact I have these preserved to remember their sweet little baby faces. It is so hard to believe how grown up they are now. I have set aside the designer paper I used, and I am hoping to make another one of their graduation pictures. Just next year for my oldest, however it will be 8 years before the youngest.

I saw this great bright card on SCS in Meedi-j gallery and wanted to give it a try. Trying to dry emboss the square evenly was quite taxing. I changed the colors but kept her same layout. I love the white ink on the bright colors, will definitely be playing around with this more often. The picture didn't quite turn out, tried to place it on the same bright papers to make the card pop. Now it just looks like I got my papers crooked. One of these days my photography will improve. Hopefully sooner, so that it can do my creations justice.

Time to Blog

Okay so I am new to this whole blogging thing, but I thought I would give it a try. So bear with me while I get the hang of things. I decided to start a blog to share my favorite hobby of paper crafting. I started stamping in 1995 but moved overseas and stopped because of a lack of supply's at that time. Last August I was invited to a Stampin UP workshop, and low and behold I was hooked again. Joined a stamp club and my husband and I decided to be a hobby demonstrator. I will be posting a link to that website soon. My job as a Lia Sophia advisor is my other passion. I love jewelry and this company has been amazing to me. It has allowed me to be at home with my family make a great income and only work part time, and be able to afford my hobby of stamping.

Well that is it for my first posts. below I have posted a couple of pictures of my latest creations.
